Baseline Survey for Support to the Africa-Led Movement to End Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting-FGM/C Project
BZY Consult conducted a Baseline assessment for project entitled Support to the Africa-Led Movement to End Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting-FGM/C that is being implemented by ActionAid Ethiopia and Consortia members. The assessment took place between Jan-March, 2023. We applied a mixed methods study involving household survey, qualitative interviews-KIIs and FGD covering two Woredas/districts in South Gondar zone of Amhara region. The household survey employed a comparative study whereby current status of the assessment dimensions was assessed for both the intervention and non-intervention sites. The assessment dimensions include female genital mutilation, agency, decision-making power, and leadership of adolescent and young women and violence against women and girls (VAWGs).
WASH NTD/Trachoma integration and coordination Implementation Gap analysis
BZY Consult conducted a WASH NTD/Trachoma integration and coordination Implementation Gap analysis between Jan.-Feb. 2022. The project has been implemented by SNV as part of its WASH for Trachoma Elimination (WASHTRA) project to complement the Face washing and Environmental sanitation component of the WHO SAFE strategy in the trachoma elimination plan of the Fred Hollows Foundation (FHF) and contribute to the trachoma control program of the Oromia Regional Health Bureau. The methodology was mainly qualitative study involving 32 key informants from national to district levels supported with desk review. It covered six Woredas in Oromia region. The assessment covered the WASH and NTD dimensions.
Baseline study for the project titled Accelerate to eliminate FGM/C
BZY Consult conducted a Baseline study for the project titled Accelerate to eliminate FGM/C from Nov. 2021-Jan. 2022. The project has been implemented by a consortium of organizations involving CORHA, Harmee Education for Development Association (HEfDA) and Talent Youth Association (TaYA). We employed a mixed methods approach (quantitative and qualitative study) covering three zones in Oromia Region. The assessment dimensions involved FGM/C, gender, and human rights; and empowerment of Adolescent girls and youth.
